Entre os alhos e bugalhos surgidos no reggae dos anos 70, o trio formado por Donald "Tabby" Shaw, Lloyd Ferguson e Fitzroy Simpson foi certamente bom fruto. Com vocais suaves, próximos da soul music americana, eles defenderam como poucos a causa rasta em canções como "Poor Marcus" e o hit "Right Time". Contratados pela Virgin, que na metade dos anos 60 foi descobrir o que é que a Jamaica tinha, eles impressionaram uma platéia de convidados: entratram no palco brandindo reluzentes machados.

O Diamonds chegaram a gravar disco com produção do veterano de Nova Orleans Allen Touissant (Ice On Fire, 1977), mas não estouraram nos EUA. Na Jamaica continuaram espalhando hits, entre eles, "Pass the Kutchie", "passa o baseado" , e inspiração para bandas como The Itals e Israel Vibration. O grupo infanto juvenil musical Youth estourou no mundo todo em 1982 com uma versão satanizada de "Pass the Kutchie", "Pass the Dutchie".

Marcia Griffiths (nascida Marcia Llyneth Griffiths, em 23 novembro de 1949, em Kingston, Jamaica) chamada também a “rainha do Reggae” é a cantora mais famosa da Jamaica.
Marcia Griffiths começou sua carreira em 1964. De 1970 a 1974 trabalhou junto com Bob Andy, seu marido, no grupo Bob e Marcia, na gravadora de Harry J. Entre 1974 e 1981 foi um membro do grupo I-Threes, um grupo de backing vocais, formado por ela, Judy Mowatt e Rita Marley.
Sua canção “Electric Boogie” fez uma corrediça elétrica, uma linha de dança, e uma mania internacional de dança.
Sim! Marcia é a Imperatriz e nada menos. A matriarca do Reggae, que nunca deixa de acender seu fogo. No estúdio de gravação ou ao vivo nos shows, ela cativa á todos, pessoas de todas as idades.
Por mais de 20 anos, sem medo, Marcia foi a rainha reinando na cena do reggae.
Uma "menina" Jamaicana, uma pérola musical.

Honey Boy Martin ou simplesmente Honey Boy é um cantor, compositor e produtor jamaicano de reggae das raízes, ativo desde a década de 1970.
Honey Boy tem um estilo de reggae "lovers rock".

Honey Boy já esteve cantando no Brasil, participou do 2º Maranhão Roots Reggae Festival em 2003 e fez muito sucesso, principalmente com D´yer Maker, uma versão da lendária banda de rock Led Zeppelin. Honey Boy, que há muito caiu nas graças da massa regueira, com sucessos como "Only for You" e "You dont´t Have To Go". A entrada de Honey Boy foi acompanhada pelo silvo agudo dos gritos femininos na platéia e o cantor não decepcionou, fazendo jus ao nome com seu jeito meloso de se expressar.
O parque quase veio abaixo quando ele cantou "Peace and Love", também conhecida como Melô da Ponta D'Areia e o Melô do Pistoleiro ("It's a Long Time"), entre outros sucessos locais.
Em homenagem aos brasileiros que tanto o idolatram, cantou uma música com um refrão em português chamada "Paz e Amor", o que não a impediu de ficar conhecida no Maranhão com o nome de "Melô do Black Boy".
A empatia com o público era perfeita e muitos reclamaram quando Honey Boy deixou o palco. O artista encantou o público na ocasião...
A apresentação de Honey Boy ocorreu na madrugada de sábado, dia 2 de agosto de 2003 e ficou para a história do festival.

Os Moonraisers nasceram em 1992 e logo começaram a dar nas vistas, pelos seus concertos cheios de energia e por ofersecerem ao público um estilo musical electro-reggae capaz de contagiar todos com boas vibrações. O primeiro álbum, Mirror data de 1996 e desde a sua edição, têm tido concertos um pouco por toda a Europa.

O crescimento da banda continuou com a edição de dois novos álbuns, Legacy em 1999 e Human em 2003.

"Chant Down Babylon" combina a música de Bob Marley com performances de um grupo seleto de pop stars urbanos. Nomes como Stephen Marley, que trouxe influências importantes do mundo do hip-hop e do R&B; Krayzie Bone, que interpreta "Rebel Music" (um dos pontos altos do CD); Os roqueiros Steven Tyler e Joe Perry, do Aerosmith, ensaiando uma versão hip-hop para "Roots, Rock, Reggae" e o rapper Rakim, que dá sua contribuição em "Concrete Jungle". O cantor jamaicano Edge Michael é sobrinho de Peter Tosh,e nasceu no dia 9 de fevereiro, filho de David Durloo e Melzeta McIntosh (irmã mais nova da lenda do reggae), em Westmoreland, Jamaica. Os pais de Edge tiveram sonhos de que ele se transformaria em um doutor ou advogado famoso, entretanto desde pequeno Edge mostrou que tinha a música correndo nas veias. Crescendo em uma família musical, enfatizou ainda mais o interesse na música, do que qualquer coisa. A música era certamente seu destino.. Nos desempenhos na faculdade até as gravações profissionais, Edge tem vivido seu destino.. No final dos anos 1990 executou como vocalista de ligação para a banda Jah Children Band, e compartilhou o palco em shows com nomes como Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs e Sanchez, apenas para nomear alguns. Logo após mudou de banda para executar com os membros da S.A.N.E. Seu relacionamento profissional com eles foi curto, mas estava perseguindo algo maior... A primeira gravação solo de Edge se chamou "Try My Love", no selo Crowd Pleaser em 1994. O esforço recebeu reconhecimento e vendas modestas, 4.000 cópias. Depois se juntou à banda Gumsion, fazendo os vocais de ligação. A banda serviu de revestimento protetor para o famoso cantor Beres Hammond, e tocou no Reggae Sunsplash e Reggae Sumfest. Nesse ano, um segundo single de Edge foi lançado: "Bump N´Grine", uma releitura de R. Kelly. Com a liberação de seu primeiro álbum em 1996 chamado "Hard Road To Travel", com 14 faixas, composto, arranjado e produzido por ele, a carreira de Edge Michael finalmente decolou..
Seu último trabalho se chama "Rebel With A Cause", foi lançado em 2007 e conta com temas como Jah Is King, Forgive Me Jah, Rebel With A Cause, Motivation, Hotter Than Hot, No Cathy Best Friend, Call Me, Gone Cold , Summertime, La Vida, Better Way/Brighter Day, Johnnny e tem participação do guitarrista lendário Ernest Ranglin...
